This month, we are proud to recognize Jordyn Newby, a junior at Marple Newtown High School (MNHS), whose passion for art is evident in both her leadership and creative achievements.
Jordyn serves as Co-President of both the Mural Club and the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) and is enrolled in Visual Art and Studio Art III at MNHS. Through the Mural Club, she has played a key role in painting several prominent murals throughout the school, including those at the high school snack bar, ticket booth and lacrosse wall.
Last year (2024–25), Jordyn also served as NAHS Treasurer during the organization’s inaugural year. In this role, she was deeply involved in establishing the foundation of the club, including drafting bylaws, adhering to the national constitution and participating in all discussions and decision-making. Her contributions were instrumental in the successful completion of the club’s charter.
Looking ahead, Jordyn hopes to pursue a career as an artist in the entertainment industry. She plans to attend college to study animation and special effects, combining her creativity with technical skill. Her talent has already been recognized, with her artwork featured in the Marple Newtown Superintendent’s Art Show and this year’s Delaware County Art Show.
Outside of school, Jordyn works as a hostess at Casey’s Pourhouse in Berwyn. “The patrons all love her. She has an amazing personality. She is kind, hardworking and caring,” shared her mother, Janet Newby.
Jordyn, we can’t wait to see where your creativity and dedication take you as you continue to make your mark on the arts.
