In an era when many couples are rethinking the scale and cost of traditional weddings, one local business is helping them focus on what matters most: the moment they say “I do.” Located in Southwest Philadelphia, Intimate Moment Weddings offers couples a simple, elegant alternative to large, complex ceremonies. These are designed around intimacy, affordability and meaningful connection.
Intimate Moment Weddings was founded by Vanessa Brown, who was inspired by her own experience of a simple yet meaningful wedding 10 years ago. Vanessa married her husband Shawn in a story she calls “Love and a bus pass.” That day, she and Shawn found a small wedding chapel in Philadelphia, exchanged vows, took a quick photo after the ceremony and then caught the bus home as newlyweds. “We didn’t have much money, so there was not a fancy venue, a big guest list or a detailed plan,” Vanessa recalled. “What we did have was love, faith, a few dollars in our pockets and a dream to start our lives together.”
This belief that a beautiful wedding doesn’t have to be big or expensive inspired Vanessa to found Intimate Moments Weddings in June of 2025. Prior to that, Vanessa had spent her career in the hospitality field, where she worked in many facets, including airline customer service, electric company call centers and the travel industry. A native of Burlington County, NJ, Vanessa studied at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute in Pittsburgh, PA,
before settling in the Philadelphia area.
Vanessa said she noticed that many couples had a similar desire for a heartfelt ceremony without the pressure of a large-scale event or the financial burden that often accompanies it. With that in mind, she set out to create a space where couples could celebrate their love in a way that feels authentic and relaxed. “Weddings should be joyful, not overwhelming,” said Vanessa. “Traditional celebrations often involve months of planning, large guest lists and substantial costs.”
Intimate Moment Weddings removes the stress of a wedding while preserving the beauty and significance of the occasion. Vanessa and her team, which includes her husband Shawn and her mom Adrian, specialize in micro-weddings and elopements, smaller ceremonies that allow couples to celebrate their commitment in a more personal environment, often with just a handful of close friends and family members present. The venue’s thoughtfully designed space accommodates up to eight guests, creating an atmosphere that feels warm, romantic and deeply personal.
Couples can choose from a variety of packages designed to make the process seamless. Elopement services offer a quick, private ceremony for couples who prefer a simple and meaningful legal union. Micro-wedding packages provide a slightly longer ceremony experience with personalized touches such as custom music, elegant décor and an officiant to guide the proceedings. These ceremonies typically last around 20 minutes and include a decorated wedding arch, a romantic backdrop for photos, and assistance with the legal paperwork required for marriage in Pennsylvania. Someday, Vanessa hopes to expand its
offerings with additional services such as professional photography and videography, allowing couples to capture every smile, vow and memorable moment of their special day.
Vanessa and her team are also committed to inclusivity, offering bilingual officiant services in both English and Spanish. “We want ceremonies to be understood and enjoyed by all family members and guests,” she said.
Located at 1 International Plaza Drive, the Intimate Moment Weddings site offers free parking and easy access to nearby SEPTA transportation routes, making it easy for couples and guests to attend. The company serves not only Philadelphia but also the surrounding communities in Delaware County and nearby counties in New Jersey. For more information, visit IntimateMomentWeddings.com.
